Well… I’m home!
So my Mom has been getting on me since I returned from training to finally post something, so here it is!
My adventure started in March 2010 when I enlisted and shipped out less than two weeks later. I know it was hard on my parents for me to one day decide I wanted to enlist and the next week be shipping out. A lot of people say “Why’d you do it? What made you enlist? Was it the video games like Call of Duty and all the movies out there that glorify war?” Well to tell you the truth I’m sure those things do make war seem cool, but thats not why I did it. I did it because one day deep down inside of me I had the overwhelming feeling that its what I needed to do to help myself grow and become the person I need to be to move forward in life. Its my personal belief that everyone should serve sometime in their lives and the world would be a better place for it.
So now onto the stories from training! I was sent to Ft. Leonard Wood for 18 weeks of OSUT MP Training. Which means I would go through basic training like everyone else, but not have a fancy graduation, just one day be in MP training, the rules didn’t change, the schedule was still the same, the only extra freedom we got was our phones for a whole two hours on sundays. Woo! Overall I’d say training was one of the most fun things i’ve ever done, I mean you cant beat free food, clothes, personal trainers, a free place to stay, you get to play with big guns, and you get paid for it all! If you or someone you know is thinking about enlisting, don’t think any longer, do it!
This is all I have time for now, will post more soon!
